Closet shelving mid-installation, one wall finished and holding folded towels, a second unmounted shelving unit leaning against the adjacent wall, with a tape measure, pencil, and loose screws on the carpet

This site covers closets, pantries, garages, and the smaller spaces in between, mostly from the angle of what a project costs and what's worth doing yourself versus buying pre-made. Most storage advice online is either a product catalog dressed up as a blog, or a photo-heavy list with no real reasoning behind the recommendations. We try to do better than both: explain the tradeoffs, name actual products and price ranges, and say when the cheaper option is fine.

Buy versus build

If you're weighing whether to buy a system or build your own across any of these spaces, the comparisons hub pulls that reasoning together in one place.

New articles get added as they're researched and written, not on a fixed schedule. For the numbers behind all of this, see our clutter statistics, with every figure linked to its original source. See our about page for more on how this site is put together.
